Pastor Biography

            Gerald and Joy Penix were married on November 5, 1976 at Beech Fork Christian Baptist Church and both were Born-Again Christians with a zeal and love for the Lord Jesus Christ and His work.  Both had grown up in a Christian Baptist Church so both shared a wonderful Christian Heritage, so it wasn’t unexpected when God called them into His Service.

Their first Ministry experience began as teachers of a junior age Sunday School Class at Beech Fork. It was from this first class that God began to expand the vision of service in their lives  Pastor Gerald received the call to preach the Gospel in 1978 and evangelized for about six months before the Lord impressed upon his heart to serve as Pastor to a small congregation in New Boston, Ohio. They served in this congregation for about 1 year then left for a Pastorate in West Wood Ky.

West Wood Christian Baptist blessed them with many wonderful relationships that remain to this day, but God kept tugging them back to New Boston. They returned to New Boston in 1980 and have served the same congregation since that time.  They, like the Church, have undergone many changes in the twenty six years at New Boston, but one thing has remained consistent, the love for the Lord Jesus.

1991 was an eventful year in the lives of Gerald and Joy as well as the congregation of New Boston Christian Baptist Church. In 1991 God blessed them with a son, Ethan, that completed the family circle. Ethan is a born again Christian and loves music of all types. Recently the family has started working as a Trio to sing Gospel Music in Church.

Also in 1991 the Congregation voted to become an independent work called Lakeside Community Church. The Congregation retained the same doctrine of the Christian Baptist, but decided to come under only one Authority, that being the Holy Spirit. This move has worked well for the Church and has created many opportunities to minister and reach out to the community.

As people view the outside they see a thriving growing church but what they cannot see is the commitment to Jesus Christ, these people have had throughout the years and though the Pastors are counted with the many, they realize that it was and is impossible without the Power of God and the love of the Wonderful People of Lakeside Community Church.

Future plans of the Pastor’s is to continue in the Work that the Lord has placed them and continue growing in Grace, Wisdom and Love to all that enter the doors of Lakeside Community Church
